Orlando began as a small citrus community, much like the rest
of Florida. When the railroad began to be built throughout Florida,
changes began to occur. Dr. Phillips was one of the areas largest
citrus producers and in the 1950's and 60's he began to use his
land for developing residential homes and commercial buildings.
Soon
after Dr. Phillips began his development, Disney arrived and the
pace of growth really began to swell. Then Seaworld, Universal
Studios, the Orange County Convention Center began to be built
and the tourists began flocking here from around the world. These
catalysts really began the growth of the Greater Orlando area.
Throughout
Central Florida, the population has grown tremendously and is
known as one of the most rapidly growing regions in the United
States. The growth in the area continues to build everyday and
